Fifth week of engineering freshman design lab, we as a group continued to work on our exercise heart rate sensor device. Programming for the Arduino started. The LED diode works well. The heart rate sensor powers on, but is unable to read a heart beat. One of our other heart rate sensors did not work. Submitted a file to 3D print a case to be used for the Arduino. Group members found that a LCD screen for the Arduino would be too big. We will not be getting a LCD screen because there will not be any space left on the board to put the LED diode and the heart rate sensor. Programming is being done in Java. I do not know Java well and am still working on programming the Arduino. Tutorials for programming an Arduino board have been researched and found in order to aid me.
The LED diode will blink faster when the heart rate sensor user is in the
upper end of their target heart rate zone. The LED diode will blink more slowly when the user is in the
lower end of their target heart rate zone. The LED diode will not blink if the user is
between 70 and 85 percent of their maximum heart rate.
